FAMILY SALVATIONS—MOM
I am the eldest son and the second of eight children. I was the first to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior in July of 1970 and praised be the Lord, each of my siblings, mom and dad came to a relationship with Christ at the right time—the time the Holy Spirit had for that person. When I came to Christ I was living at home with my parents after my wife and I separated and our three children were living apart from me.
My accepting Christ totally transformed me from the inside out. I finally had peace, joy and confidence that God loved me in spite of my many failures. Depression had left me. I could not wait until the next church service or prayer meeting. My mother, however, could not understand my going to churches other than the one in which we grew up. Every night before and after my attending a church service, we would argue about religion. I realized that all I was accomplishing was to make mom mad, so I started praying and fasting for my family to be saved.
One day mom told me that she had been to the medical doctor because she had been hemorrhaging. The doctor told her that if her bleeding persisted, he would have to perform surgery and this really worried my mom. I knew mom believed in miracles so I invited her to the weekly prayer meeting where we prayed for the sick. I told her that Jesus would heal her if she would come with me.
On the way to the home prayer meeting, mom told that she did not want a protestant minister laying hands on her and that she did not want the Baptism of the Holy Spirit nor the evidence of speaking in tongues. Well, that evening, instead of a layman, we had a protestant minister leading the home meeting. When it was time to pray for the sick, mom was the first to receive prayer. The protestant minister laid hands on her, Jesus healed her and she spoke in tongues. Mom was healed and our daily arguments stopped. Praised be the Lord.
If you have a loved one who does not know Christ, go pray more for him or her in both English and in tongues. Jesus will draw him or her to Him. Do not lose your cool! Go pray some more.
