Exhortation 838

Earl Prickett was an International Director and Vice President of the FGBMFI in the 1960s and 1970s from northeastern United States with whom I had fellowship when I first became involved in Full Gospel. In the 1970s when I was holding regional conventions in Lubbock and Amarillo, it was customary to invite an International Director to take an offering for FGBMFI headquarters.

The night that Earl flew in, I had a vision in which the Lord gave me some scriptures on how the offering should be taken and for what purpose. The offering was still going to headquarters but the Holy Spirit wanted me to take it. I shared the vision and scriptures with Earl and he asked me three times that day if I was sure I had heard from God. In the vision the Lord showed me that if 100 men were obedient to the Lord and would give $1000 that evening, the Lord would break the three year drought we were having in the Texas Panhandle. That night only 15 men came forward with his $1000 cash contribution for International headquarters. Even though 85 men were disobedient, the offering that night was the largest international had received to date. The Lord was faithful to break the stronghold of drought by sending rain a short time later.

Earl Prickett was a personal friend of Demos Shakarian after Earl was wonderfully saved by Jesus Christ from alcoholism. He traveled with Demos all over the world, giving his testimony and leading praise and worship. Demos loved to tell the story of Earl rolling on the floor, praying in tongues in his white suit. Demos would say that when Earl got up, he looked like a Holstein cow with black spots all over his white suit. I appreciate Earl allowing me to take the offering that proved to be such a remarkable blessing for the land in which I lived.

If we pray and seek God’s face before we act, give or do any good work, the Lord is faithful to give us more than what we ask for because He knows what we need. So go pray some more.
