FAMILY SALVATIONS—MY BROTHER FRANK

My brother, Dr. Frank, is the third child of our parents’ eight children. He and I shared a lot of the same school friends and both became chiropractors. Soon after I was born again in July of 1970, I felt impressed upon by the Holy Spirit to write a letter to Frank stressing to him the importance of receiving Jesus as his personal savior.

Frank was married, working with his father-in-law and living in Wisconsin. In my not too subtle letter, I told him that if he did not turn from his wicked ways something bad was going to happen to him. The last time Frank had seen me I was going through divorce, chain smoking and severely depressed. When Frank got my letter, he wrote mom, telling her “watch Terry! Sounds like he may commit suicide…”

About six months after writing that letter, Frank asked me to pick him up at the airport. His wife had asked him to leave her and their children in Wisconsin. When we saw each other at the airport, he noticed that I was happier, that I had put on weight and that I had quit smoking (actually, the Lord had delivered me from smoking) but he did not want to hear any thing I had to say about the Lord. There was just one small problem for Dr Frank, since he had no car and no job…if he wanted to go out, he had to go with me and the only places I went were to church and to prayer meetings.

One night he agreed to go with me to the prayer meeting where our mother had received her salvation and healing. A young man wanted to be healed of his severe lower back problems. A spirit-filled chiropractor and I asked Dr. Frank to verify that the young man had a distortion in his spine by measuring the length of the man’s legs. Dr. Frank checked that one leg was shorter than the other. My friend asked Dr. Frank to stay and pray with us. What we did not realize because we had our eyes closed was that Dr. Frank was pushing on the short leg and pulling on the long leg while we prayed. Dr. Frank was trying to prove that there were no miracle healings at these meetings. The man was wearing patent leather shoes. In spite of Dr. Frank’s efforts, the shorter leg grew out as the leather of the shoes squealed. The man’s pain disappeared and Dr. Frank became a born-again chiropractor that very night.
